LEA: SICKLE CELL, THE ENEMY WITHIN PREMIERES ON BBC AFRICA EYE

Events  /  27th April 2024

We are excited to announce LBx Africa’s second production to be released this year, ‘LEA: Sickle Cell, The Enemy Within.’

The film is available to watch on BBC Africa Eye, our second collaboration with them after What’s Eating My Mind was released in January this year.

The film highlights the story of Lea Kilenga. At just six months of age, she was diagnosed with sickle cell. Her parents were told by doctors that she wouldn’t reach her teenage years. Instead, Lea has become a beacon of hope for sickle cell sufferers across Africa, battling both the stigmas surrounding the disease and the authorities who fail to provide adequate care.

LEA: Sickle Cell, The Enemy Within would not have been possible without the support of Docubox (Judy Kibinge and Peter Mudamba).

Thanks to the film team behind this project;
Director: Kenneth Jura

D.O.P: Joel “Ingo” Ngui
