Celebrating 'The Battle For Laikipia' World Premiere at Sundance Film Festival

Events  /  3rd May 2024

Hope your 2024 is off to an amazing start! Here at LBx Africa, we've kicked off the year with a bang!

We joined forces with the talented team behind the much-anticipated documentary 'The Battle for Laikipia' as their post-production partners. The over 300 hours of footage were edited into a striking, emotionally resonant film by LBx Africa's Sam Soko and resident LBx Africa Editor Jordan Inaan who is credited as Assistant Editor.

'The Battle for Laikipia' had its world premiere at the iconic Egyptian Theater this month during the Sundance Film Festival, and the reception was overwhelmingly positive.

Sam Soko, joined Directors Daphne Matziaraki and Peter Murimi, Producer Toni Kamau, Co-Producer Maya Craig, Line Producer, Kati Davenport, Executive Producers Roger Ross Williams and Geoff Martz, in Park City, Utah for the premiere.

Soko's editing expertise also caught the eye of the folks at ADOBE, who featured him on their blog to share his experience editing the film with Adobe Premiere Pro.

In other exciting news, Toni Kamau, the powerhouse producer behind 'The Battle for Laikipia' and 'Softie,' was awarded the 2024 Sundance Institute | Amazon MGM Studios Producer Award for nonfiction feature film in recognition of her body of work, impact on independent nonfiction and most recent film in the Festival, The Battle for Laikipia!

Stay tuned for updates on the film's Kenyan premiere – we can't for you all to watch it.
